2016 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
White Plains finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year White Plains finished eighth in Class 4A region six with a 0-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Wildcats lost as many games as in any season since 2007. The Wildcats have not qualified for the playoffs since the 1994 season and would love to end that streak this year. They have never won a playoff game in the school's history. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as White Plains averaged scoring just 12.6 points a game. The Wildcats also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 36.8 points a game. The Wildcats would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-17 record. Since 2010, White Plains has gone a combined 19-41. Their 32.0% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 4A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, White Plains has managed to compile a record of 87-163. Their 35.0% winning percentage ranks 51st in Class 4A and 317th in the AHSAA. The Wildcats are led by head coach Chris White who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 1-9 record in his first season at White Plains. The Wildcats have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach White. Coach White's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 1-9 (10.0%). The White Plains Wildcats will play in Class 4A region five during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Wildcats remain in 4A but move from region six over to region five. It will be an uphill battle for the Wildcats if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region five this season. After just a single win last year, White Plains will be hopeful of winning a few more games this season. The Wildcats open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Ohatchee on Friday, August 26 at Roy C. Owens Field. Last year the Ohatchee Indians finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in sixth place in Class 3A region six. The Indians ended last season on a positive note with a win over Ragland by a score of 49-19 after failing to gain a playoff spot. White Plains and Ohatchee have met a total of 32 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 7-25-0 record against the Indians. They last met in 2013 with White Plains winning by a score of 23-6. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
